Dachstein Glaciers

Three glaciers cover the Dachstein plateau: the Schladminger Glacier, the Hallstädter Glacier and the Gosau Glacier. In our project, we focus on the larger Hallstadt Glacier and the small Schladminger Glacier near the cable car station.

There is no such thing as a Dachstein glacier, but rather a term for the area on the plateau.
However, the Hallstadt Glacier and the Schladminger Glacier are still touching. However, experts assume that they will separate in the next few years due to climate change.
